ミャンマー屈指の溶接トレーニングセンターはヤンゴンダウンタウンから少し郊外に車で30分ほど走ったタウンダゴンのインダストリアルゾーンに位置する。2010年オープンのこのトレーニングセンターから多くのミャンマー人技能労働者が中東や東南アジア諸国に派遣され、シンガポール、タイ、マレーシア、そしてUAEの産業を支えてきた。今回はこのARBOURFIELDトレーニングセンターをクローズアップし紹介します。

もともとは造船業向けに建設されたトレーニングセンター

ARBOURFIELDトレーニングセンターはもともとは東南アジア諸国の造船業を支える技能労働者育成のために建設されました。ARBOURFIELD（アバーフィールド）という名前はもともと代表者のU SEIN PEが英国に住んでいた時にちなんでつけられた名前です。造船業といえば、船の建造の行程で様々な技術を要し、総合的なトレーニング技術を必要とすることから、溶接技術のトレーニングを始め、造船足場の組立、解体、パイプフィッティング（配管溶接）や電気配線工事、スチール加工、船体塗装など様々なトレーニングを行うことができるよう機材も準備されました。

ミャンマーの国家資格NSSA技能保有のトレーナーが溶接を教える

ミャンマー国内で二つの施設だけが保有する資格でこの資格を持ったトレーナーがトレーニングを行うことにより、終了証明を発行することができる。現在ティラワやそのた建設現場で働くワーカー達も誰でも良いわけではなく、しっかりと安全や基礎技術をトレーニングしたワーカー達だけが入れる現場も増えつつあります。技能実習生達も、溶接の仕事で日本へ実習しに行く場合は、このトレーニングセンターにて事前トレーニングや研修を行い、すぐに戦力として働けるよう、訓練を積みます。

溶接の技能をはかるために、同時にテストが実施できるスペースを完備。100名規模の大規模な面接でも十分に対応が可能です。必要な溶接技術をテストするには最適な環境です。

まるで船室トレーニング生達の宿泊施設も完備

長期間のトレーニングでも大丈夫なように50名ほどが宿泊できる施設も完備しています。一人一泊200Ksという値段で宿泊ができます。こちらはあたかも船の船室を連想させるような作りの宿泊施設で、とても狭いですが、炊事洗濯なども行えるよう設備が整っています。また技術トレーニングだけではなく、座学や語学の学習ができる講義室も２部屋準備され、目的に合わせた講義を行っています。日本語の事前教育を受けている実習候補生も数多く宿泊滞在しており、日本からの企業様訪問を心待ちにしています。

各国から工場経営者や、建設経営者などが訪れ、インタビュー（採用面接）を行うことができるよう専用ルームも完備しています。インタビュー室はしっかり人選ができるよう採光がしっかりとした明るい部屋で。そして、ミーティングルームにてじっくりと選定をします。同時に２社の面接をこなすこともできるほどのスペースを確保しており、大量の実習生採用にも対応しています。
